yes, you heard me right.
basically, i sprained my ankle two days before the hong kong trip. walking is a pain in the ass. but who would give up the glorious and yummyiest food on earth and shopping for an ankle. moreover, it was chinese new year and it would be quite depressing if i spend my entire chinese new year in brunei with a sprained ankle and no family. AND WHAT IS CHINESE NEW YEAR WITHOUT THE FAMILY, HUH?!
after many, many persuasion to my mom including crying..., "please pity me!" and the A-Ok given by the doctor on the very same morning as the flight, i was on the way to hong kong and macau. wheeeee. My sis quickly packed my stuff as I could not walk up the stairs to my bedroom. Also, i am not suppose to carry slr because it is heavy blablabla. shitla, i was soooo looking forward to take photos of the quaint chinese buildings or the hoo-ha of hongkong cityscape.
fine, enough of whining and lets talk about the good stuff.
1. if you are interested in the experience of sitting on a wheelchair, it was quite cool. esp those busy areas in the airport where you are allowed to cut the queues.... and the second reason is basically... you don't have to walk. hahhahaa, yes, i could be quite lazy.
however, one thing annoyed me sooo much was how people especially from a XXcountry was sooooo sakai as if they had never seen a disabled person before. And goodness me, it was just a sprained ankle. I tried to intimidate them by staring or smiling at them. However, some people could not just get the clue which made me told them, " so nice to see, meh? " in Mandarin.
2. food, food and more food
Well, i cant do a food review for every single restaurant as I didnt bring my camera to Macau. But those below are good enough to be recommended. omg la, the foood is sooooo good and most of them are free. courtesy of crown :P.
Restaurant Lua Azul
This restaurant was recommended by one of the Macanese receptionist at the hotel I was staying. She recommended us the other one but it was full until 2pm. However, we are too famished.
the dim sum wassssss amazing and unique compared to other restaurants. especially the
1. steamed beef ball,
2.coconut jelly with mango paste -it just melts in the mouth and it was like perfect combination between something sweet and unsweetened. i had to fight with my sister over this.
3. the yam pastry with goose fillings topped with scallop. This is sooo unique and innovative.
The taste is just great and the scallop was fresh.
4. And, the rice rolls are so smooth and springy. Plus, it is different with all the chasiews or scallops. It has every interesting combination like wild mushrooms and chasiews. Amazinggggggggg. It had put Shark's fin House or Lucky Chan's to shame. The restaurant is situated at the Macau Tower where it is part of the bungee jumping etc. 3rd floor, i think. Do yourself a favour if you go to Macau, it is a MUST GO.
Fat Siu Lau, Taipa
The oldest restaurant in Macau, since 1903, for Portugese food. There are three restaurants in Macau but we went to the third branch because it is a ten minutes ride from the hotel I was staying. The restaurant were quite full when we arrived but the service is quite good. They even waited a taxi for us. I recommended the roasted pigeon ( best pigeon I had ever eaten! ), African chicken ( my parents voted for this. ), clams in tomato sauce ( it smells soo good but most of the clams are empty ), mashed potatoes with escargot ( i hate escargot but this is soooo good! ) We didnt try the souffle cake because we were so full by the end of the dinner. However, every other table was ordering it and the aroma smelt sooo good when the waiter brought the cake to the table.
Cafe Tai Loi Lee Kei, Taipa
Next to Fat Siu Lau Branch 3, Cafe Tai Loi Lee Kei is veryyyy veryyyyy famous for the grilled pork bun. It only starts to sell at 3pm for 300 buns. Be there before 3pm as the queue is a killer. It does not has any condiments or veg or cheese but the grilled pork bun is good by itself.
Lord Stow's Bakery, Coloane
He was the one who "invented" the Portugese Egg tartttt. One is never enough.
If you are the city, go to Margeret Cafe de Nata. It is really hard to find it as you have to go through the alleys but ask around as the locals know that place. fyi, Margeret and Lord Stow used to be married. It is alsooo veryyyy goood.
